My husband and I, along with scuba buddies
Dave Dalton and John Morris, would spend some time in Mt. Storm, WV
at Vepco Lake. This dive site (also a general recreation site for boaters,
swimmers and fishermen) is popular among the local dive community since
the water is heated by the coal fired steam plant. We enjoyed this dive
site to hone in on the advanced skills we needed to participate in technical
oriented diving. Mt. Storm caught the attention of Dive Training Magazine,
too. The magazine spent a day at the lake in May 2002. I was later contacted
by Ms. Laymon of Dive
Training Magazine because they were interested in using a
photo of mine in the article. They found the photo on my now outdated
Nova
Tech: Northern Virginia's Technical Diving Community web
site. I was happy to send the editors of the magazine my photo on CD
for this August 2003 publication. The photo is of my husband, Todd Clagett,
in all his gear discussing his and John Morris's dive with Dave Dalton.
Dave and I were to dive after these two completed theirs. The photo
is picturesque with the barrage of steam rising from the lake and powdery
snow on the ground. The air temperature was about 32-36 degrees Fahrenheit
and the water was a balmy 65 degrees Fahrenheit.
